In an event supported by the Hutt Valley Angling Club and Wellington Fish & Game, a group of 14 girl guides spent an evening on the Hutt river this week learning the basics of trout fishing. Members of the club and Fish & Game rangers assisted the girls in the basic skills required including rigging up the rod, casting and retrieving the lure or worm.
For absolute beginners there was some excellent casting techniques from the girls and whilst no fish were caught there was no lack of enthusiasm. In fact they decided they would like to do it again.
