Trout fishing in New Zealand
For 150 years, trout fishing in NZ has been a national tradition. It is a resource right at our doorstep. The serenity of being out there and the adrenaline of hooking a fish make it an incredible pastime.
The equipment and skill level varies on the method you use, you might be surprised how accessible and easy trout fishing can be. Our club is committed to helping you learn how to fish, where to fish and you will meet people that will be only too willing to go fishing with you.
At various times we offer workshops on a specific skill. This may be for novices or a particular style of fishing or water safety. For new members and novice anglers. This will assist you with gear selection, knots, finding trout, casting, rod set up, wading and much more.
Casting clinics are held for novice and intermediate members monthly, usually the same week as club night subject to demand. This is an opportunity to develop your skills. Usually you will receive one on one tuition from experienced anglers.
The Fishing Buddy Group is an important part of the development opportunities we offer to members. An experienced angler will take you fishing a few times specifically to assist you with the basics of trout fishing including set up, fly selection, reading the water and hopefully playing and landing a fish.
